Loop Vase

loop-vase-5-2098-5-2099

This vase was discovered by archaeologists excavating in a neighborhood just north of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia. The excavation was undertaken for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). It is made of blown glass and is dark olive green in color with an opaque, white, loop decoration. Most likely, this object was made either in South Jersey or in glass works once based in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadlephia. It was produced sometime in the late 1840s to late 1860s.

Information about this object was provided by Doug Mooney and Mary Mills of AECOM.
